Title: Breathing Together, Size: 200cm x 140cm

First presented in 2024 in the group exhibition ‘Fight or Flight’, curated by Julie Legouaz & Evelina Reiter, Adlerhalle, Berlin, Germany

Breathing Together is a participatory work in which audience members are invited to participate through adding a personal inhale and exhale in line form, forming a collective representation of our breaths. This work aims to be a space for reflection on the breath and how we are connected through it.

We all breathe. We share the same precious air, continuously touching one another through our breath. The breath responds to fear, excitement, and safety—shifting moment by moment. How we breathe reflects not only our current state, but also our history.
Trauma, anxiety, illness, and environmental pollution can all leave lasting imprints on the breath. Many people find it difficult to breathe deeply. Therapeutic practices often begin with the breath—used to soothe anxiety, manage panic, and reconnect with the body. Breath meditation, now widespread, is valued for its calming and centering effects.

The simple act of drawing a breath can be an act of care and truth-telling.

I wish to present/facilitate this work in more contexts in future. Size and language are adaptable. Please reach out if your institution, gallery, festival or organization is interested in this work.
